SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The second hairdresser at the Great Clips location in Springfield tested positive for COVID-19, the Springfield-Greene District Health Department announced on Saturday afternoon.
The stylist worked five days – May 16 to May 20 – while experiencing “very mild but potentially contagious symptoms,” the health department said, according to Springfield News-Leader report.
56 potentially exposed clients will be offered testing. The stylist and the client wear face masks.
On Friday, health officials said a stylist who tested positive for COVID-19 had served 84 clients at the same Great Clips location, at 1864 S. Glenstone Ave. at the Plaza Shopping Center, for eight days between May 12 and May 20, with only the 18th.
The announcement came just days after city officials announced plans to relax on further terms and about a week after the health department began to see an influx of new travel-related infections.
Clay Goddard, director of the Springfield-Greene District Health Department, said health officials still had sufficient capacity to determine the origin of the infection and the potential for spread, although that could change.
