(Reuters) – Italy can allow spectators to return to the football stadium in September if the COVID-19 situation allows, sports minister Vincenzo Spadafora said on Friday, adding that capacity would be limited.
The top two divisions of the Italian league, Serie A and Serie B, returned in June after a three-month termination. However, all matches have been played in private since then.
“If the epidemiological curve allows, fans can return to the stadium in September,” Spadafora told Rai state broadcast in a radio interview.
“Obviously, we cannot fill the stadium like we did before, but we must respect the set of actions that are being studied at this time.”
