NAPLES, Italy – Fl. Cmdr. David Ferris, a native of Austintown, served in the US Naval Forces Europe-Africa.

Ferris is an engineering duty officer responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of ships assigned to the Sixth Fleet, according to a news release from the US Navy.

“My current job involves interacting with the many commandos supporting the ship with spare parts, technical know-how, as well as people and contracts to carry out repairs,” said Ferris.
