Brazilian-Italian Fares Reach Busy Hillhurst Stretch in Los Feliz | Instant News

A new restaurant has emerged in Los Feliz this month, albeit in a familiar place. Nossa is Hillhurst’s (at least in South America) Italian-style dinner option, laid out in the old style gallery from Brazil. These restaurants operate as a sort of third choice for fans of Brazilian gaucho cuisine and more traditional Italian food, due to heavy North Italian immigration to South America that began in the late 1800s.

Chef Bonelli

New Nossa following these steps, offering a variety of genre-appropriate small dishes and other takeout foods, from Brazilian cheese bread (pão de queijo) to chicken croquettes to crunchy quinoa salads. The main business goes from simple options like whole grilled chicken (with beans, plantains, and chimichurri, of course) to a variety of pastas and moqueca de peixe classic Brazilian fish stew.

Former owner of Vinoteca Farfalla / Tropicalia John Borghetti, who grew up in Brazil, reversed the space and the concept himself, bringing in chef Simone Bonelli (who is originally from Modena, Italy and previously worked at Osteria Francescana) and beverage director Michelle Biscieglia, who was once a beverage director for Blue Hill NYC.

Reps for Wow notify Eater that the plan is to stick to takeout and delivery dinner times for now at Hillhurst’s 1966, from 5pm to 9pm, Wednesday to Sunday, although with the recent return of outdoor dining there will be several dining rooms available in the near future. The attached wine bar space was also completed for possible summer service.
