JARANWALA: A person beat up his spouse for refusing to present her consent to his second marriage in Jaranwala on Thursday.
Ali Asghar, a resident of Chak No 101, sought his spouse Nasreen’s permission for contracting second marriage as mandated by part 6 of the Muslim Household Regulation Ordinance 1961, which stipulates that an individual meaning to solemnise second marriage should search first spouse’s nod of approval.
Her refusal led to a heated argument between the 2 as the person let free a stream of abuses. He went ape and inflicted torture on her.

An IHC bench gave this ruling on a petition filed by a lady who challenged a periods court docket’s verdict that had exonerated her husband from the cost of solemnising second marriage with out her permission.
The bench held that the Arbitration Council’s permission is obligatory even when current spouse or wives allow a person to contract one other marriage.
“Contracting second marriage with out the council’s consent shall be a punishable act,” it dominated.
