When New Zealand closed, they took it to the next level, and Sam Blenkinsop went into hiding with his family and enjoyed the opportunities it was given to him to spend time with his young daughter.
As the years progressed, the 10-year DH World Cup veteran found himself at home for his first winter in more than a decade. As the lockdown subsides, he takes the opportunity to explore the untapped trails of Central Otago, just outside the Remarkables Mountain Range.
The desert’s high topography and rugged landscape was once home to the South Island gold rush, and the trails are paved by intrepid miners who hike for days, resting in hillside caves in glacial rock fields along the way.
Once he’s paid, he makes arrangements with Hunt Cinema, and together they make Hidden Claims, capturing Sam’s unmistakable style above his Vision as he traces a path from cave to cabin in the 150-year trail of intrepid explorers in search of treasure. treasures of the earth.
The scorching heat of winter is usually too scorching in Central Otago, but Blenki and Hunt Cinemas capture the golden backdrop of the perfect day that allows this journey through an important era in New Zealand history.
