Draft 49ers activity started a month ago by trading the MVP DeForest Buckner team to the Indianapolis Colts for overall selection No. 13
Now, 49ers have more flexibility in design with less need areas than ever since general manager John Lynch and coach Kyle Shanahan took over three years ago.
49ers enter the concept with the following schedule options:
First round: 13 First round: No. 31 The fifth round: 156 The fifth round: No. 176 Round six: No. 210 Seventh half: No. 217 Seventh half: 245
Here are five bold predictions about how 49ers will approach the draft, scheduled for Thursday, April 23, until Saturday, April 25.
Worth the wait for the recipient
This is an extraordinary year for the recipient in the concept. The top four wide receivers are generally considered CeeDee Lamb, Jerry Jeudy, Henry Ruggs and Justin Jefferson.
But is there a wide enough gap between receivers that 49ers can get in 13th place, as opposed to players they can get later in the first round – or even in the second, third or fourth round?
Therefore, 49ers will wait until the third day of the draft, when there are still many quality recipients available. And while they do, they will take two – larger bodied receivers and speed burners to stretch the plane.
By waiting until Day 3 to choose a broad recipient, 49ers can choose Florida cornerback C.J. Henderson with their first choice or one of these players …
So 49ers must prepare this draft as if Staley will not be available for this season.
Of course, Staley wants to play the 14th NFL season and 49ers wants him to be able to play. But there are many factors to consider, including how his body felt at the end of last season and how it felt when the offseason continued.
Staley, who turned 36 in August, had to realize that every season he played, it would be more difficult for him physically – including the passing of years in post-football life.
There are four offensive tackles that may be among the top 10 players selected in this draft: Mehki Becton (Louisville), Tristan Wirfs (Iowa), Jedrick Wills (Alabama) and Andrew Thomas (Georgia).
There is no guarantee that one of these players will be available at No. 13 overall. But if there are, 49ers will take on players who can protect Jimmy Garoppolo’s blindside for a very long time.
Top playmaker at age 31
49ers have invested a lot in running them again, so it would be surprising if they reach that position at the end of the first round or early in the second round (with trade back).
Well, surprise, surprise.
Jonathan Taylor of Wisconsin was very productive in the Big Ten, running for 6,174 yards and 50 goals during his three-year career.
He is the perfect scheme for 49ers, and what he showed as the recipient of last season gave the team an element that he didn’t have last season.
Taylor caught 26 passes 252 yards and five goals last season. That’s the area of the game that can grow, and gives Garoppolo a reliable safety valve. Taylor on the open field is explosive and he has a great ability to make a defender lose.
Plus, with 49ers in running again, Taylor doesn’t have to be overloaded and overworked like he was in Wisconsin.
Draft pick for a veteran
49ers will try to trade – maybe, even before the draft starts. Among the 49ers they could move to were recipients of Marquise Goodwin and Dante Pettis.
But the player most likely to produce a decent draft pick in return is running back Matt Breida, who was offered 49ers as a limited free agent in the second round level.
The deadline for limited free agents to sign offer sheets with other clubs is Friday. If another team signs Breida on the bidding sheet, they must give the 49ers the second round of choice in return. Obviously, that is the price that the team does not want to pay.
But with the depth of 49ers in running again, they will surely be satisfied to get the Day 3 prize in return for Breida. And it might be interesting for other teams to do that trade.
Breida was a prominent player for three seasons after signing as a rookie rookie in 2017. Breida averaged 5.0 meters to bring in his 381 attempts.
But with Tevin Coleman, Raheem Mostert, Jerick McKinnon and Jeff Wilson already on the list that entered the draft, there may not be room for Breida.
Quality above quantity
Yes, 49ers can be traded again from No. 13. Yes, they can trade again from No. 31. Yes, they can add draft picks in a trade.
49ers currently have seven draft choices, but even with the possibility of that move, 49ers will choose less than seven new players.
That’s because the 49ers will package some of those choices in the fifth, sixth and seventh rounds to go up to take the players they have targeted in the previous place in the draft.
49ers had two choices in the first round, then didn’t have another choice until the fifth round. There will be some good players available in the second, third and fourth rounds. And 49ers will package some of their choices later for the purpose of adding quality over quantity.

LAHORE – After surviving in the political wilderness for more than a year, PTI senior leader Aleem Khan will get its ministry portfolio back in the Punjab cabinet on Monday (today).
Development occurs after a meeting between Aleem Khan and Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar who reportedly took place on the orders of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Sources say Aleem Khan will be restored to its previous position as Senior Minister along with the portfolio of local government departments. He will also be given a portfolio of the Food department which fell empty after Sami Ullah Ch’s resignation last week. The two ministries are now empty. He can also be given additional fees from the P & D department, said a source who sought anonymity.
Sources say that Aleem Khan will take an oath as Senior Minister within one or two days because the Chief Minister has directed his staff to begin working on it.
Aleem Khan was on the news again last week after reports of alleged contact with the PML-N leadership even though he strongly denied the news calling it false.
Can be remembered here that Aleem Khan resigned as Senior Minister on 6 February 2019 after he was arrested by the Accountability Bureau in cases relating to assets outside known sources of income and offshore companies. Then, the Lahore High Court gave him a guarantee on May 15, 2019. The court also stopped the court of accountability from listening to the case to filing an appropriate referral by the anti-corruption body.
Interestingly, NAB did not challenge Aleem Khan’s guarantee or submit references to it after confirming his guarantee request. NAB has not continued this case further until now. Meanwhile, an official handout was issued after the meeting said that the Chief Minister and Aleem Khan discuss issues of mutual interest, current political scenarios and steps taken by the government to tackle the coronavirus pandemic.
The two leaders also condemned the Opposition for conducting politics on the national issue of the coronavirus pandemic. “The opposition must know loudly and clearly that public service cannot be carried out only by giving statements”, said the Chief Minister who also stressed that the PTI leadership stood shoulder to shoulder with the masses to effectively deal with the corona virus pandemic. Former Senior Minister Abdul Aleem Khan alleging that the Opposition tried to divide the nation at the time of this trial.
He further stated that it was time to improve the morale of the people by giving them all the help and showing a noble attitude. “Islam also teaches us to provide maximum assistance to the poor and Muslims affected by these difficult times,” he said.
