Good news: a negative back test for COVID-19 at Maple View Lodge in Athens | Instant News

Maple View Lodge, Counties’ long-term care home, was placed in the Respiratory Outbreak by the Lanark Health Unit, Leeds and Grenville on April 3. A total of four residents showed one or more upper respiratory symptoms. The residents were isolated in their rooms and families were told.

Earlier this week, test results for two residents were received – both negative means there was no COVID-19. Yesterday, Lodge received two final results and both were negative.

“This is very good news, and I am very happy for the residents, families and staff at Maple View Lodge,” Warden Pat Sayeau said after being told.

Both our residents and staff are monitored twice a day as a precaution. Staff have implemented improved monitoring and screening of all residents during the COVID-19 pandemic. They observed anyone who had a fever, a new cough or made it worse, and all the other symptoms of COVID-19.

The County will continue to work in close partnership with our public health unit and our medical director to ensure every possible step is taken to protect our residents. The health and safety of our residents, and the team members who serve them, are our top priorities.
