LAHORE: Vice-president of the Muslim-Nawaz League (PML-N) Maryam Nawaz urged Pakistan’s Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) government to come out of the Nawaz syndrome ‘syndrome and harness its energy to control the spread of Covid-19.
“While people suffer and lose their lives not only because of Corona but because of unprecedented & unreliable incompetence, criminal negligence & apathy, the government continues to suffer from Nawaz Sharif’s syndrome,” Ms Nawaz said in a tweet Monday.
Speaking of a leaked photo of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif at a roadside cafe in London that sparked debate about his health, he said: “He walked on because of strict advice from his doctor, but you (PTI leaders) spoke to cause disruption from the ongoing & catastrophic will come. ”

He advised the government to start working. “Go to work if you know how to do it, get help if you don’t.”
After the photo circulated on social media last Saturday, several PTI ministers and advisers had targeted the former prime minister, claiming that he was in ‘good health’ and had to return to face corruption cases against him.
Uploading news images about the possibility of a phenomenal increase in coronavirus in Lahore, Maryam Nawaz said: “This is a classic case and cannot be fixed from priorities that are very misplaced.”
According to the summary of the primary and secondary health care department forwarded to the primary minister, six percent of the total samples collected were tested positive for Covid-19. In some cities, 14.7 percent of the samples collected were positive and there was not a single area in Lahore where infection had not yet reached.
