Staff working at the agency will contact the complainant, forwarding it to the relevant authorities within one hour
PESHAWAR: Khyber-Pakthunkhwa (K-P) has launched a website and a mobile application that allows harassment against women, children and transvestites to be reported.
This is the first application to be launched in the province and is available in eight different languages, including Urdu, English, Pashto, Chinese and Arabic.
The website and mobile application developed by the private organization Zomung Joundon is part of the Women Protection Wing, which aims to empower women.
Speaking to The Express Tribune, Chairwoman of the Women’s Protection Wing Wafa Wazir said women, children and transgenders can register abuse reports through the application. Staff working at the agency will contact the complainant and forward it to the relevant authorities within one hour.
The wing has a special team to contact legal experts, psychologists, police and federal investigative agents (FIA). All institutions are informed after the complaint is registered.
The Chairperson stated that previously, women faced difficulties in registering their complaints because of lockouts following the increasing number of Covid-19 cases in the country.
He said the application would provide a platform to register complaints while maintaining the confidentiality of their identities.
