ISLAMABAD – Health officials say another Pakistani lawmaker has died in a hospital in Islamabad after being tested positive for corona virus.
Mian Jamshed Kakakhel, who is a member of the northwestern provincial assembly, died Wednesday. His death came a day after two lawmakers died in different hospitals after being tested positive for the corona virus.
So far, four Pakistani lawmakers have died of coronavirus in the country, which recorded the highest increase in one-day infections with 4,131 new cases confirmed in the past 24 hours.
Pakistan on Wednesday reported 67 deaths in the last 24 hours since the outbreak.
Critics blame Prime Minister Imran Khan for the increase in deaths and infections. They accused him of loosening restrictions last month when there was a need to implement tighter locking to curb the spread of the virus.
Pakistan has recorded a total of 80,463 confirmed cases and 1,688 deaths since February.
