ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Imran Khan has taken a very serious view of the fact that while the federal government has drastically reduced POL prices in recent months, there has been no corresponding reduction in prices of basic commodities, but this shows an increasing trend.
Likewise, there is no logic to why flour prices should rise when the recent crop wheat harvest was concluded.
With that in mind, the prime minister wants the Chief Minister / Chief Secretary of the Province to personally investigate this issue and make every effort to ensure that the impact of reducing fuel prices must simultaneously reflect the prices of essential commodities.
The provincial government must monitor the price of essential commodities every day and make every effort to provide the benefits of reducing fuel prices to the general public.
The next prime minister is happy to wish that the National Price Monitoring Committee will also monitor the prices of essential commodities, every week, as directed by the Federal Cabinet, and design a mechanism for carrying prices of important commodities.
It should be noted that to provide further assistance to consumers, the federal government reduced the price of petroleum products from Rs 7.06 to Rs 11.88 for June 2020.
