Former Pakistani cricketer Basit Ali lashed out at former Pakistan batting coach Grant flower after his controversial comments about Khan Yunis. The flower recently revealed that Younis was once stabbed in the throat, after taking some batting tips from the flower. Review of Zimbabwe went down with several fans and former Pakistan cricket players.
Flower, who served as the batting coach of Pakistan from 2014 to 2019, recalled Younis lost his cool after he gave him batting advice during one of the tours to Pakistan from Australia. The incident occurred in Brisbane and Pakistan’s former coach Mickey Arthur had to intervene to calm things down between Eunice and flower.
“I remember one incident in Brisbane, during the test, for Breakfast, I tried to give him some batting advice … but he didn’t take kindly to my advice and went with a knife to the throat, Mickey Arthur, sitting beside her, who had to intervene,” flower says The Following Podcast To The Cricket.
Basit commented on the flower in the video posted on his YouTube channel and slammed former Pakistan coach for their comments. Basit said the flower had to think twice before talking about Eunice, which is one of the greatest batsmen of Pakistan all time with more than 17,000 runs in international cricket.
Beret knitted on a flower, Basit said was the greatness of Younis’ which he used to listen to advice from the flower, who played 67 tests and 221 ODIs in Zimbabwe.
“There is a statement that came out of Grant flower of Khan Yunis. I feel he gave very quickly to that statement. I think he must think that man, which tells the player who scored 10000 runs to Pakistan”, said Basit Ali.
“Pakistan cricket is not so bad that the coaches like Grant flower to give suggestions in Khan Yunis. It was his [Younis] greatness, which he used to listen to it [Flower] and even the loan of him at press conferences”, he added.
Basit also urged the Pakistan cricket Board (PCB) to take action against flower for his comments about Eunice, which can tarnish the reputation as a legendary player and country.
“Statements such as these are not suitable for our country’s cricket and PCB should take action. Because of Khan Yunis is one of the greatest players in cricket, and I felt very sad,” said Basit, who played 19 tests and 50 ODIs.
