Ajmal Wazir, Advisor to the Chief Information Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has been removed from his post. Notification from the provincial government was confirmed on Saturday. As the PTI fired Ajmal Wazir, there were reports that the adviser took the commission and abused his position.

As PTI dismissed Ajmal Wazir, Kamran Khan Bangash was given an additional cost of Information and Public Relations portfolio in addition to the office of a special assistant to the chief minister of the Local Government, Elections and Rural Development.

Previously, several news reports claimed that the Wazir had resigned from his position for personal reasons. “I cannot give up my job as an information adviser, so I resign from my post,” Wazir said. He also said that he had sent his resignation to Chief Minister Mahmood Khan.

Another notice said Wazir had been removed from his position because of accusations of receiving a commission in a leaked audio recording. The investigation into the alleged leaked video recording was ordered by the KP’s main minister.

“Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa wants to process a case for a fact-finding investigation about the video recording of Ajmal Khan Wazir who recently appeared, a former chief minister adviser for information and public relations,” the notification reads.

The Wazir was appointed as chief minister’s advisor for information earlier this year. The Wazir, which belongs to the Shakai valley in South Waziristan, had joined Pakistan’s Tehreek-e-Insaf before the July 2018 general election. He was previously a member of the Pakistan-Quaid Muslim League and remained its main vice president.

According to Mohammad Malick, a prominent TV host and commentator, CM KPK personally shared the sound of an audio call with the prime minister to get a nod to expel the Vizier from his position.

As the PTI fired Ajmal Wazir, the source also claimed that Wazir was alleged to have provided a decent advertisement for a newspaper run by him and his brother for Rs30 million using his position. Also demanded commissions from other news agencies.

In particular, in 2014, the PTI government in the KP sacked Industry Minister Shaukat Yousafzai and advisor to the chief minister of transportation Yasin Khalil. A statement issued by the Information Department said that the performance of ministers and advisers was not satisfactory so they were fired.
