Foreign betel nuts and cigarettes worth millions of rupees have been found in five freight bogies at the Karachi City Railway Station.
They were arrested in an operation jointly carried out by Pakistani Customs and Railroad police.
Karachi Customs Intelligence Inspector Sikandar Khanzada said SAME TV that action was taken based on instructions indicating that the freight train coming from Lahore to Karachi was carrying contraband.
He said an investigation had been launched into a problem that would determine the involvement of railroad staff in human trafficking.
