Designates Tehreek-e-Taliban United Nations Pakistan Noor Wali as a global terrorist | Instant News

Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terror group, Noor Wali Mehsud, was appointed as a global terrorist by the United Nations for participation in the financing, planning and performing actions on behalf of and in support of organizations associated with “al-Qaeda”.

Committee of the UN Security Council 1267 LIH and “al Qaeda” sanctions added Mehsud, 42, ISIS (“DAESH”) and “al-Qaeda” sanctions list on Thursday, subordinating national Pakistani assets freeze, travel ban and embargo on arms supplies.

The sanctions Committee said that Mehsud was listed for “participating in the financing, planning, facilitating, or perpetrating of acts or activities in conjunction with, under the name of, on behalf or in support of” organizations associated with “al-Qaeda”.

In June 2018, Mehsud was named the head of the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan after the death of Maulana Fazlullah.

TTP was in the “black list” of the UN on 29 July 2011, because of the connection with “al-Qaeda”.

“Noor Wali, under the leadership of the TTP has claimed responsibility for numerous deadly terrorist attacks in Pakistan, including the attack of the Pakistani security forces in North Waziristan in July 2019 and a bomb attack on Pakistani soldiers in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in August 2019,” the Committee said.
