KARACHI (Dunya News) – The accountability court in Islamabad on Friday wrote a letter to the clerk in the Karachi branch to indict the vice chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and former president Asif Ali Zardari in a reference to Thatta’s water supply on August 4.

According to the details, directives have also been forwarded to appoint a judicial representative to identify Asif Zardari on the day of the indictment.

The Islamabad court subsequently ordered the video link process for the former president and 13 other defendants. Karachi’s National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has also been assigned to ensure the appearance of Zardari on August 4 at any cost.

In December 2019, former president Asif Ali Zardari was released on medical grounds after an accountability court in Islamabad issued a separate robber [mandamuses] at Park Lane Estate Company and money laundering through a fake bank account case against him.

Allegations at the center of the latest case surrounding Zardari’s accusation of laundering large amounts of money through bank accounts and suspected companies.

NAB is conducting an investigation based on the Supreme Court’s ruling in the laundering of billions of money through a fake account case in which it forwards a joint investigation team (JIT) report with direction to investigate and submit references.

Zardari repeatedly rejected accusations that he interfered in the scheme. Never popular and always shrouded in controversy, Zardari – who was jailed for 11 years for corruption – resigned from the president’s office in 2013. But he continued to serve as deputy chairman of the PPP opposition.
