KARACHI – Calling the Sindh government a ‘mafia’, Pakistani Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Karachi President Khurrum Sher Zaman on Monday claimed responsibility for rising wheat flour prices in the province.
He said that the wheat was stolen and smuggled in by giving bribes.
Khurrum Sher Zaman said that people buy wheat flour at a higher price after the price of milk and vegetables.
He alleged that thousands of tons of wheat had been stolen under the supervision of the provincial government. He further said that all this was done in relations with the provincial food department, price control committee and district deputy commissioner.
“The federal government is ready to give flour to Sindh if the provincial government wants help in this matter,” he offered.
He hoped that the provincial government would not ask for loans from the World Bank or other organizations in the name of wheat.
He also warned that he would hold a protest if the price of wheat flour did not go down.
