Buzdar will remain CM as long as he has confidence in PM Imran: Fawad | Instant News

Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry said that Usman Buzdar will continue to work as chief minister as long as he has the trust of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

“If a prime minister has the support of the PM they will continue to work,” Fawad said, answering questions about Prime Minister Imran Khan’s recent comments about Usman Buzdar in Geo News program Geo Pakistan.

The federal minister was asked about Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday expressing satisfaction with the performance of Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, amid speculation and unverified reports from the government thinking of replacing the chief minister.

“Opposition is not a problem”

The minister also said that opposition is not a problem for the ruling government, but the hope that people with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf have in power is the problem.

“Opposition is not a problem, the problem is that people have a lot of hope from PTI and people hope that PTI will bring big changes in Pakistan and that is a challenge for us,” Fawad said.

The minister explained that the opposition poses no threat because political parties are based on individuals, and added that if one individual is eliminated then the party experiences confusion. He cited the example of the Pakistan-Nawaz Muslim League (PML-N), saying that the party had been without a head since the departure of supremo Nawaz Sharif.

The moon observation system was sent for approval

Fawad Chaudhry shared that his ministry had formalized a system for observing the moon and sent it to the ministry of legislative affairs for approval; added that the ministry forwarded it to the Islamic Ideology Council (CII) as well.

“Now it is their duty and the cabinet whether they want to force it or not,” the minister said.

The minister believes that if people continue to rely on seeing the moon with the naked eye, the country “will never be able to determine one or several Eid al-Fitr because it will be different each time and will continue like this”.

“If you say you want to see it from the naked eye, then the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee must consist of men and women aged 20 to 22 who have vision [is perfect]”The minister said.

Fawad also went on to claim that the month of Hajj was born on Monday night at 10:33 and yesterday was present for “more than 24 hours” but the moon vision committee said they did not see it “because there were clouds in Karachi”.

He further asked that if seeing the moon was “lawful” using old technology, then “why is it unlawful to see it using new technology?”

Fawad and his ministry were in the spotlight after Chairman of the Ruet-e-Hilal Central Committee Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman announced that Eid al-Adha would be celebrated this year on August 1, after the body that met on Tuesday in Karachi could not see the month of Zilhajj.

However, the federal minister said that Eid al-Adha will be celebrated on July 31 in Pakistan “according to the calendar of the Ministry of Science and Technology”.

Chaudhry said that the month for the month of Zilhajj would be seen in Karachi and its surroundings on July 21. He added that the moon can be seen with the help of binoculars and in some areas, with the naked eye too.
