AMRITSAR: Sikhs in Pakistan want the Imran Khan government to deal with those who risk claims over Gurdwara Shaheedi Asthan’s history in Lahore at his own level and restore confidence among minorities.
Days after a video clip showing two local men filing claims for gurdwara and threatening to turn them into mosques, the Sikh community in a neighboring country said that the Pakistani government must act against perpetrators at its own level.
Gurdwara Shahidi Asthan is a historic gurdwara where Bhai Taru Ji made the highest sacrifice in 1745.
President of the Gurdwara Parbandhak Sikh Committee (PSGPC) of Pakistan Satwant Singh said, “Sikhs around the world are sad to hear news about Gurdwara Shaheed Bhai Taru Singh. The vision of the Pakistani government, especially Prime Minister Imran Khan, is to promote peace and brotherhood. The incident that happened at Shaheedi Asthan was an individual act. There is a plot behind the gurdwara, which is the property of the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETBP). They plan to take that plan. This is wrong and cannot be tolerated. ”
“If we take action, it will damage the Sikh and Muslim brotherhood. Nor will it be a solution to the problem. I have raised this issue with ETPB and other government departments. We want the government to overcome such problems at its level, “Satwant Singh said.
LODGED COMPLAINTS WITH POLICE
Meanwhile, ETPB, the Pakistani government body where PSGPC works, has filed a complaint against Suhail Butt Attari, who is seen to intimidate the Sikh community in Pakistan.
In his complaint to the deputy inspector general (operation) of Lahore, ETBP secretary Sanullah Khan, said, “On July 25, Suhail Butt Attari, s / o Salah ud Din Butt, a local resident of Darbar Hazrat Shah Kaku Chisti in Lahore, tried to slander Pakistan by uploading baseless propaganda videos against Sikhs in Pakistan, PSGPC and ETPB, and the Government of Pakistan. DVD recording closed. ”
‘PAKISTAN’S IMAGE DAMAGING VIDEO CLIP’
“PSGPC is the only governing body representing the official Sikh community of Pakistan and plays a vital role in building the image of Pakistan as a country that loves minorities. After the success of the Kartarpur Corridor project and Pakistan’s appreciation at the international level, several conspiracies of anti-state elements were hatched to slander the country, “the complaint said.
ETBP said that Suhail Butt and his colleagues, Raza Butt, Umair, and others conspired to provoke people against Gurdwara Taru Singh and try to occupy an empty plot next to each other in Landa Bazaar, Lahore. “To project his charitable actions, he has damaged the image of Pakistan at the international level. Strict disciplinary action must be taken. ”
