Pemra warns cable operators not to display Indian content
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) has warned all cable TV operators to stop illegal distribution of Illegal / Indian channels and only broadcast licensed Pemra / Right Landing channels and Pakistani content on each of their CD channels, said a press release issued on Wednesday. On the instructions of Pemra Pemra Chairman Muhammad Saleem Baig and Director of General Operations (Distribution) Muhammad Farooq, General Manager of Pemra Regional, Karachi, Ashfaq Ahmed Jumani has begun cracking down on cable operators involved in violations. The Karachi Regional Office operations team, led by Syed Asim Siraj, AGM Operation, carried out unannounced inspections of various Karachi cable operators. M / s Global Cable Network Private Limited, Korangi, Karachi, was found to be involved in the distribution of illegal Indian channels and Indian content on CDs on its network. The operation team confiscated two CPUs, 20 receivers, five modulators and six transmitters. Show notice of the cause has been issued to the Global Cable Network about violation of Pemra law and the same thing will be concluded according to law. The regional office has also ordered all cable operators to strictly follow the Pemra Regulations and Regulations, failing where the Authority will take action according to the law.
