KARACHI – Karachi administrator Iftikhar Ali Shallwani on Saturday said that there must be very few cities like Karachi in the whole world because the city faces difficult times but never gives up.

“Merchants and industrialists are Karachi’s identity and their problems must be resolved on priority basis,” said the Administrator delivering this statement during a speech at the Korangi Trade & Industry Association (KATI) lunch here. KATI President Sheikh Umer Rehan, Chairman & CEO Zubair Chhaya, Senior Vice President Muhammad Ikram Rajput, Vice President Syed Wajid Hussain, Former President Danish Khan, Masood Naqi, Zahid Saeed, Gulzar Firoz, Farhan-ur-Rehman, Administrator Korangi Shaheryar Memon and others also attended.

Shallwani said that in the Karachi road building package it is the administration’s first priority because it is the first attraction of investors and Rs 1.3 billion is allocated for the purpose. He added that apart from road construction, cleanliness issues and sewerage improvements, street lights were also needed.

Shallwani said that Karachi is the identity of Pakistam and a complete city map will be prepared and all roads and roads will be named after the legendary people of the city. He announced that the 3000 Korangi Industrial Estate roads would be named after the patron name of KATI SM Muneer. It also announced that road maintenance and development in sector-15 would be included in the Karachi package.

Administrators also welcomed former KATI president Zahid Saeed’s proposed pilot project on urban forests. He also assured KATI that Karachi Metropolitan Corporation will fully support the development of roads, cleanliness, infrastructure improvement, parks and green belts so that the largest industrial area in Karachi can be better.

Shallwani said DMC Korangi would give KATI a machine to pick up trash, asking KATI to take ownership. “After the second world war, many cities in European countries were destroyed but now they have developed so much that nobody can say these cities were destroyed. We all have to go forward and play our part for the progress and development of Karachi, “he added.

KATI President Sheikh Umer Rehan said that the biggest problem of Korangi Industrial Estate is land grabbing in Meharn City and special authority should be given to Korangi Administrator Shahryar Gul memon to solve the problem.

He said that they are grateful to CM Sindh Murad Ali Shah because he brought credible officers like Shallwani and Shahryar Memon as our administrators. He also announced that he would hand over the Gold Medal on behalf of KATI.

CEO Zubair Chhaya urged Administrators to remove the remaining GTS in the area of ​​the EBM causeway for fear that other district administrations could dump their rubbish or debris in these settlements.

Former president Zahid Saeed briefed the Karachi administrator on the proposed urban forest in the basement of the Malir and Liyari rivers. Shallwani directed administrators to destroy the remaining GTS on the EBM causeway and ordered to close the area to all types of disposal once for all. He also welcomed the proposal of Urban Foresting.

Multimedia presentations on damaged roads and sewerage systems sectors 15 and 23 were also given to managers.

Later, President KATI also handed over the shield to Shallwani.
