Striking lockdown violations: RTO calls back 440 tax officers | Instant News

At the time when the government lockdown took place amid a coronavirus outbreak in Pakistan, the Islamabad Regional Tax Office (RTO) had recalled around 440 employees including all officials and staff to report making the tax machinery of the federal capital fully operational.

According to orders issued by the Islamabad RTO, the authorities have asked the relevant government agencies to release the Islamabad RTO officers and officials from the closure.

“Many employees who work in the RTO Islamabad jurisdiction are over 50 years old,” said the source.

The Islamabad RTO said that in accordance with the instructions of the Federal Revenue Council (FBR), the Islamabad FBR field offices including the Islamabad RTO were fully operational for revenue collection purposes.

In this perspective, Islamabad RTO officials / officers are required to reach the office to carry out their official duties.

Therefore, all police departments and law enforcement agencies were asked to release them from the lockdown imposed to prevent the COVID-19 pandemic, the Islamabad RTO order added.
