KARACHI: A 21-year-old woman, the daughter of a former orangi City nazim, was shot dead on Monday in Nazimabad North when she returned home after submitting her academic papers to the Karachi Secondary Education Council (BIEK), regional police said.
Fatima Feroz, 21, was shot dead by an assailant on a motorbike, they said, adding that the attacker opened fire on the car she was traveling in along with her sister and two other girls.
SHO Rashid Ali said that the attackers appeared to be chasing the car and they intercepted the vehicle near Abdullah College. “They shot him and fled,” he said.
SHO said that the victim was the daughter of a former Orangi Town nazim Sheikh Mohammed Feroz Bengali. She married but the couple has reportedly been under tension for three to four years.
Feroz suffered a gunshot wound to his neck and was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The officer said that she had not officially separated from her husband. He ruled out the possibility of robbery being the motive for assault.
Police said an investigation into the incident was underway.
