49,500 protection kits were given to hospitals to fight COVID-19, PM told me | Instant News

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has chaired a meeting of the National Coordinating Committee (NCC) to review the steps adopted because they contain a COVID-19 pandemic in the country, ARY News reported on Monday.

Prime Minister Imran Khan was told that 3,300 ventilators were available in 136 hospitals in the country, while 49,500 protection kits were provided to medics. The process of supplying protection kits to the hospital will be completed in one or two days.

The Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Lieutenant General Mohammad Afzal told the prime minister that there was no shortage of protective equipment and masks in the country and the agency made an emergency effort to ensure the availability of the required number of ventilators.

During the briefing, he said that special attention was paid to improving the ability of the daily coronavirus test.

The Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar also informed Prime Minister Imran Khan about economic activities and the progress of development projects.

PM Khan urged the relevant authorities to provide the necessary equipment for doctors and paramedical staff on a priority basis to ensure the protection of frontline soldiers against COVID-19.

The prime minister was also directed to provide assistance to workers after the recovery of the construction sector in addition to ordering to utilize public sector development program funding for these projects.
