The governor of Rawalpindi, Punjab Muhammad Sarwar Chaudhry said that the business community had participated in relief work in every difficult period. Their role is very important. Rescue 1122 played their role as frontline soldiers in the current Coronavirus situation. Rescue 1122 has trained one million volunteers.
He gave a speech at a ceremony distributing food ration bags among decent people in the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He further said that while all steps might be taken by the government to prevent Coronavirus, Prime Minister Imran Khan himself was monitoring the situation.
“We have to fight against Corona on the one hand and on the other hand save people from poverty,” the governor said. There is no guarantee when it will be controlled. We must improve our behavior and not always accept this situation. People must really follow the precautionary steps. The Punjab Governor said the construction sector was opened at the request of the people.
He said that several concession packages had been brought to the business community.
Even though in the current case, traders suffer severe economic woes, however, entrepreneurs are on the government and administrative side to face the challenges posed by Coronavirus and aid activities.
Under Prime Minister Imran Khan’s economic sponsorship package and the Ehsaas program, up to now billions of rupees have been distributed to poor people.
Previously, RCCI President Saboor Malik said that the concession package from Bank Negara was welcomed but the increase had to be dropped to zero. We demand interest-free loans for this industry.
He also told the governor about RCCI assistance activities in which 10,000 bags of ration would be distributed among the needy.
The head of the Sohail Altaf Group said that the income tax must be abolished, the sales tax rate must be reduced to five percent. He also demanded assistance in electricity bills and urged the government to provide incentives under social security and EOBI.
