KARACHI: Various areas of the city were shrouded in thick fog Thursday morning, affecting traffic flow and delaying flights at Jinnah International Airport.
Fog makes life difficult for commuters commuting to work and school.
The towns of Orangi, Malir, North Nazimabad and the surrounding areas are shrouded in thick fog. Traffic on Super Highway Link Road and in the surrounding area is also affected due to low visibility.
The Met Office has forecast dry weather for most of Sindh. “Light fog/haze is likely to occur in Sukkur and its surroundings in the morning,” he added.
Several flights at Jinnah International Airport were delayed due to fog.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), Karachi’s flight to Islamabad, which was scheduled to depart at 07.00, was delayed while the flight bound for Istanbul failed to take off due to low visibility.
Flights to Lahore and Peshawar were also delayed, according to CAA Aviation Inquiry. The Karachi-Dubai flight was also delayed by two hours.
CAA officials said flight operations would fully recover when the fog subsided.
