KARACHI – Karachi Administrator Barrister Murtaza Wahab on Wednesday said 30 percent of Karachi’s land holdings belonged to the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and the remaining Karachi lands were controlled by other entities. Speaking to the media crew here, Lawyer Murtaza said that the commercialization process started in 2001 under the Karawang City Regency Government. “In 2003 and again in 2005 commercialization took place and the streets of Karachi were commercialized. In the house where one family used to live, now there are twenty families,” he said. Murtaza’s lawyer said that there was a lot of work going on in the Parks department. “We will work where there is an opportunity but there is no growing season at the moment so the planting work is stopped,” he added. He said that when the season restarts in February, trees will be planted. The Karachi administrator said he stood with officers and personnel for any assistance. All KMC problems will be solved, he assured.
