KARACHI: Deputy Commissioner for the Eastern District of Karachi on Monday announced to impose new Covid-19 restrictions following a spike in Covid-19 cases, ARY News reported.
As per the details, the deputy commissioner has ordered the closure of all markets, wedding halls and shopping centers by 10 p.m. to contain the spread of the coronavirus.
Commissioners have made it mandatory to wear face masks on public transport, markets, bus stops, and ordered authorities to take action against those who violate orders.
The move comes days after the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) announced new Covid-19 restrictions for cities and districts where the level of Covid-19 positivity has exceeded two percent.
According to the notification, the NCOC has ordered all shopping malls, restaurants, shops and wedding halls to close at 10pm. The forum also ordered the closure of public parks and recreation areas by 6 p.m.
These cities include Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Multan, Hyderabad, Gilgit, Muzaffarabad, Mirpur, Peshawar and Quetta.
Sindh on Monday reported 443 new cases of COVID-19 over the past 24 hours.
Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said that 9,784 samples were tested in 24 hours in the province. Murad Ali Shah said more than 443 people had tested positive for the infection, bringing the total to 146,774.
It can be noted that out of a total of 443 cases that tested positive for the virus on the last day, 289 were from Karachi, which means more than half.
