Pakistan cancels Baisakhi celebration Amritsar News | Instant News

AMRITSAR: Pakistan Evacuee Trustee Property Agency (ETPB) announced the dissolution of the Baisakhi celebration in connection with the coronavirus crisis. The main event will be held at Gurdwara Panja Sahib, Hassanabdal, on April 14.
With 13 cases reported from Nankana Sahib – the birthplace of the first Sikh master Guru Nanak Dev – the local government has made a decision. Akal Takht Jathedar has announced that no Baisakhi meeting will be held in India. He has urged people to pray at home and watch Gurbani broadcasts on various TV channels.
ETPB Chair Aamer Ahmad confirmed the decision. According to a program released by ETPB, the Indian Sikh jatha will be accepted at the Wagah border (Pakistan) on April 12, followed by a main ceremony to celebrate the birth of Khalsaat Gurdwara Panja Sahib on April 14.
Pakistan Committee President Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Satwant Singh said that Pakistan was locked until April 14. He said that there were no Sikhs in Nankana Sahib who had tested positive so far.
