KARACHI: Officials and staff members of the Karachi branch of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) have been diagnosed with the new coronavirus amid the second wave of the pandemic sweeping the country, ARY News reported on Wednesday.
A deputy director, two assistant directors, and a staff member have been diagnosed with COVID-19 at the NAB Karachi office. These people have isolated themselves after being detected with the virus.
Sources told ARY News that the administration of the anti-corruption watchdog office issued instructions to its officials and staff members to strictly follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) to curb the spread of the virus.
Pakistan has taken note only 3,009 cases of COVID-19 and 59 deaths from the virus in the past 24 hours.
In the past 24 hours, over 59 people died from the disease, bringing the death toll to 7,803. 1,214 patients have recovered from the virus over the past 24 hours and 1,867 patients are in critical condition.
According to the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), with the entry of new infections in the country, the current national number of cases stands at 382,892, while active cases stands at 42,115.
A total of 41,583 tests were conducted across the country during this period. A total of 332,974 people have recovered from the deadly disease while 5,297,703 samples have been tested so far.
