Senator Faisal Javed, chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting on Sunday, said the previous government had not paid much attention to creating asylum or national parks.

In a statement on twitter, saying goodbye to Kavaan, he said that Prime Minister Imran Khan immediately started work on building 15 new national parks. He said, “Dear Kaavan! We are sorry for not taking good care of you.”

He said Kaavan retired in Cambodia’s world-class sanctuary.

He said that “Hats off to Global Freeing Wild (FTW), Singer, Actor Cher, Dr. Amir Khalil, Four Paws international, Wildlife Council, Friends of the Islamabad Zoo, Minister of Climate Change Amin Aslam and all involved for a brilliant effort on Kaavan’s journey to sanctuary in Cambodia and the company of another much needed elephant. Commendable work.
