KARACHI: A textile factory located in the city’s site area on Tuesday fired 700 of its employees, ARY News reported.
Factories in Sindh were closed amid lockdowns to fight the coronavirus outbreak.
Dismissed employees including women, elders and children in large numbers protested outside the factory for the harsh decision to fire their services.
Speaking to the media, employees who protested said that they were asked to leave the factory by management by saying that their services were no longer needed. They say that the factory owner also waived last month’s salary in pieces.
Fired employees say they were fired for no reason by factory owners in these difficult economic times, now what will they do to win bread and butter for their families?
It can be noted that, the Sindh government has announced paid leave for all workers during closure, and said it will not be terminated during that period.
The leaders of the alliance of labor rights groups welcomed the decision of the Sindh employers and government after the meeting that no employer would fire their employees and continue their salary for 15 days of locking up.
