Ehsaas Cash Program | Instant News

PESHAWAR: Data published on the Ehsaas Emergency Cash portal do not have eligible beneficiaries from North Waziristan, while South Waziristan only has 18 eligible beneficiaries.

Data on the portal states that a total of 1,437,483 recipients have registered for the Ehsaas cash program in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Of these registered recipients, 1,152,544 have received an amount of cash. This portal has some very interesting information about beneficiaries in various districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Data displayed on the portal states that the South Waziristan district only has a total of 18 eligible beneficiaries. Do not have data about North Waziristan district.

Responding to criticism about the anomaly in the data, Chairman of the Benazir Revenue Support Program Dr. Sania Nishtar tweeted from his Twitter handle that the information had been published for transparency purposes. He said that assistance under the 8171 scheme was being provided based on the 2010 survey in category-I and category-II. He added that due to the law and order situation in North and South Waziristan districts, a survey had not been conducted there.

Dr Sania Nishtar further wrote that in Category-III, Waziristan would get a proportionate portion of the population, adding that 61,164 texts were received from North Waziristan and 62,499 from South Waziristan. He added that the information was being assessed.

He said that for Category-III parts of the four provinces, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan will be made based on population and eligible people will be identified through Nadra data analysis.

He claimed that there was no room for political interference and nepotism in the Ehsaas Cash Program because transparency was the government’s top priority.

However, the Provincial Assembly of Members of North Waziristan, Mir Kalam Wazir denied his claims of achievement and transparency in the Ehsaas cash program. He said that SaniaNishtar is now in the process of controlling damage after social media highlighted the issue. He claimed that no SMS service was used to identify beneficiaries in North Waziristan. “The administration is directed to prepare an overnight list for cash disbursements,” he said. He added that the district government asked elected assembly members to nominate a representative to elect beneficiaries. “My candidates were not consulted but were asked to sign a list prepared by the government,” he said.

He said even PTI workers protested against the exclusion of their party members from the list. They then calmed down by allocating several quotas for them, he added. PTI’s local leaders and workers are among the beneficiaries, therefore, claims of transparency and non-interference are rubbish, he maintains.

Mir Kalam WazFIDid who called the tribal district as a tribal agency in the data showed the inability of the people who manage the program.

“It has also referred to districts that were formerly bodies despite the fact that after the merger, former tribal bodies are now Khyber Pakhtunkhwa districts,” he argues.

The portal also incorrectly called Upper Kurram as a technician from the Mohmand Agency (district) with only one recipient eligible. It is said that Khal tehsil from Dir Atas has 20 eligible beneficiaries while Katlang tehsil in Mardan has 12 eligible beneficiaries. Bahrain in Swat has 44 eligible beneficiaries.
