Anti-corruption body Pak issued an arrest warrant for Nawaz Sharif in a corruption case related to land | Instant News

Pakistan’s anti-corruption agency has issued an arrest warrant for former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif who has fought in a 34-year land-related corruption case.

70-year-old Supremo from the Pakistan-Nawaz Muslim League, is currently in London for medical treatment.

According to officials of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Sharif illegally leased land to Group chief editor Jang Mir Shakilur Rehman in 1986, when the three-time prime minister was Minister of the Punjab province.

“NAB has issued a warrant for the arrest of PML-N supreme leader Nawaz Sharif in the land case Chief Editor of Jang Rehman Group. “Sharif received a notification and a questionnaire in this case, but there was no response from him who was in London for his medical treatment,” a NAB official told PTI on Sunday.

The prime minister has faced several corruption charges three times.

The official said the NAB would move a court of accountability to declare Mr Sharif as a criminal who was declared not to cooperate in the investigation.

On March 27, NAB sent a questionnaire to Mr. Sharif and called him to the bureau office on March 31 to record his statement. Again on March 15, the NAB office in Lahore called in Mr. Sharif to appear before the bureau on March 20, but there was no answer from him, Dawn reported.

Jang Group, also known as Geo Group, is a subsidiary of a company based in Dubai Independent Media Corporation.

On March 12, NAB arrested Mr. Rehman in this case. He is in bureau custody on physical detention until April 28.

Rehman, editor in chief of the Jang / Geo media group, was arrested on charges that he illegally acquired the 54-Kanal (6.75 hectare) land at a prime location in Lahore at a single-use price in 1986 during his current tenure. the Punjab ministers Sharif.

“Once Sharif is declared a lawbreaker, we will continue the repatriation process,” the official said Sunday.

“The decision to issue a warrant for Sharif’s arrest has been taken because he did not cooperate with NAB on the 54-Kanal land in Lahore which he had illegally given to Mir Shakilur Rehman in 1986 when he was Punjab’s chief minister,” the official said.

Sharif left for London last November to be treated after the Lahore High Court allowed him to go abroad on medical grounds for four weeks.

Now it works with aggressive medical therapy. ”

The Lahore High Court, in October last year, guaranteed Mr. Sharif on medical grounds for four weeks, allowed the Punjab government to extend it in view of his medical reports.

The Islamabad High Court has also given guarantees to Sharif in the Al Azizia Mills corruption case, where the former prime minister is serving a seven-year prison sentence, clearing his way to travel abroad for medical treatment.

Sharif has given the task of the Lahore High Court to return to Pakistan by stating his record to face due process of law and justice within four weeks or as soon as he is declared fit to travel.
