LAHORE: Pakistan Secretary of the Muslim League-N (PML-N) Information Marriyum Aurangzab has expressed concern about the high incidence of coronavirus in media houses.

In a statement issued on Monday, he demanded the government to immediately take concrete and concrete actions to ensure the safety and welfare of all journalists.

He said that the supply of protective equipment [personal protective equipment] for journalists must be the government’s top priority. He expressed his disappointment at the government’s inability to announce interest-free loans to the media industry so that workers’ salaries can be paid on time. The government also has not yet provided assistance packages for journalists, he added. The former information minister also expressed his condolences for the death of former APP employee Rashid Bhatti from coronavirus. He said it had to ring alarm bells in all levels of government.

He urged Imran Khan to focus his mind and energy on the pandemic raging in the country rather than pursuing his small and vengeful political agenda.

He said instead of nagging all day and night at Shahbaz Sharif, he must worry about the fact that doctors and journalists are dying across the country because the government has failed to protect them with appropriate equipment. Marriyum said this was not the time for politics but to do anything to save the lives and livelihoods of the people of Pakistan. But unfortunately, he said, the government was obsessed with small politics even at this important time in history.
