In a tweet on Tuesday, Foreign Office Spokesman Aisha Farooqui said the joint statement underlined that the steps to combat Covid-19 must respect the human rights of every individual. “Therefore the release of political prisoners, human rights defenders and all those arrested in India occupying Jammu and Kashmir after August 5, 2019 is very important.”
