A powerful supporter of Pakistan’s ruling Tehreek-e-Insaaf, Ismail said he was ready to fight it.
“I have just tested positive COVID-19 … I believe this does not contradict what we prepared. May Allah give us the strength to fight this God willing pandemic, “he said in a tweet Monday night.
Prime Minister Khan and several of his party’s top leaders expressed good hopes for the governor.
Science Minister Fawad Chaudhry said that it was disturbing news for him. “For me, the governor of the Sindh @ImranIsmailPTI is not just a friend but a mentor and a brother who is very disturbed by the news about his CoronaVirus positive test, may God be kind to us all …,” he tweeted.
Governor Ismail returned to Twitter to thank everyone.
“I am grateful to all members of the cabinet, friends & family who show their concern for my health … I am in good health & spirited,” he said.
Ismail is the highest official who tested positive so far. Earlier, Sindh’s education minister, Saeed Ghani, was stated positive but recovered.
Governor Ismail is currently alone.
Before he tested positive for COVID-9, the governor spent 10 very busy days where he met with many people and attended important meetings.
The number of coronavirus cases in Pakistan has exceeded 14,000 and claimed the lives of more than 300 people.
