Pakistan welcomes joint statements by international organizations about IoK: FO
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan welcomed a joint statement by six international human rights organizations, calling on India to immediately release all detainees detained arbitrarily and restore full high speed internet access in Jammu and Kashmir occupied by India.
In a tweet on Tuesday, Foreign Office Spokesman Aisha Farooqui said the joint statement underlined that the steps to combat Covid-19 must respect the human rights of every individual.
Therefore the release of political prisoners, human rights defenders and all those arrested in India occupying Jammu and Kashmir after August 5, 2019 is very important.
The spokesman said he expressed concern about isolating prisoners from the outside world due to blackouts of communications and a ban on prison visits, the statement underlined that allegations of torture of Kashmiri prisoners as part of a pattern of violations for decades have been repeatedly condemned by human rights and UN agencies .
