The Peshawar district administration on Monday sealed five commercial bank branches for violations of standard operating procedures (SOPs) announced by the KP government for the prevention of coronavirus outbreaks.
The action was taken during the visit of Peshawar Deputy Commissioner (DC), Mohammad Ali Asghar along with the 102 Brigade Commander. Additional Deputy Commissioners (ADC), Ashfaq Khan and Assistant Commissioner (AC) Nauman Ali Shah also accompanied the deputy commissioner.
The sealed branches are located in Saddar (Cantonment) and Shuoba Bazaar. District administration officials found long queues within these branches violated SOPs because they observed social distance.
Meanwhile, during the visit DC also arrested 55 people for violating Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code which was stated to restrict the movement of people to their homes.
Offenders were arrested from University Road, Board Bazaar, Shuoba Bazaar and Khyber Bazaar, while three commercial bank branches were sealed in Saddar (Cantonment) and two in Shuoba Bazaar for violating SOPs because of observing social distance to prevent the spread of coronavirus. .
The district government has taken strict steps to prevent a meeting of five or more people after the current situation.
