The PM directs to set a comprehensive vision to improve the standard of living of ordinary people
Prime Minister Imran Khan has stated his determination to carve out a comprehensive vision to improve the lives of ordinary people and bring people out of poverty.
Welcoming the ceremony in Islamabad on Thursday, he said self-confidence was a panacea for development, progress, and independence. He said we must go towards an economy of knowledge, education, science and technology to get a dignified place among the people of the country.
The Prime Minister said the COVID-19 crisis provided an opportunity to produce locally produced ventilators and other protective equipment because they could not be imported.
Imran Khan said we must improve our hospital and improve our medical infrastructure in the country. He said the hospital would not improve unless the elite, including the minister, did not go there for treatment.
On that occasion, the Prime Minister also examined various medical equipment produced by various public sector organizations and the private sector.
The Ministry of Science and Technology Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said Pakistan produced affordable Personal Protective Equipment to meet the challenges of COVID-19.
Giving a briefing to Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad during a ceremony in Islamabad on Thursday, he said his ministry of Pakistan’s Scientific and Industrial Research Council produces large amounts of hand sanitizers and disinfectants and we can export these items, even after meeting our local requirements. He said seven types of ventilators designed by the Pakistan Engineering Council were in clinical trials, while the National University of Science and Technology had developed its own testing kit.
Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said the private sector, specifically the Faisalabad textile sector, manufactures protective gears for doctors and healing workers, outside of our domestic consumption.
Giving guidance to Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad during the ceremony, Defense Production Minister Zobaida Jalal said the people of Pakistan had good thoughts and were able to overcome all kinds of challenges.
He said after the emergence of COVID-19, we had mobilized our team working under the Department of Defense Production to prepare safety equipment in the fight against the corona virus.
Zobaida Jalal said his ministry had achieved the ability to produce around 300,000 to 400,000 liters of cleaners, 35,000 high-quality masks, and 400-500 protective clothing per day.
He said joint production with his companies had stepped forward to complete the national struggle against COVID-19 and develop a methodology for utilizing existing industrial infrastructure for the development of protective gears and other articles. He said that we enable all production with our own resources. In this case, the NRCC uses 10 million rupees from its own resources.
He said that the NRCC will start repairing ventilators in Haripur and Lahore soon to meet all kinds of emergencies. So far three hundred ventilators have been repaired by our engineers. He said our engineers were behind the scenes of successful COVID-19 battles.
