A woman who was allegedly set on fire by her husband and mother-in-law on Saturday in their home on the outskirts of Karachi died of her injuries on Thursday during hospital treatment.
Police Shah Latif said Humaira was being treated at the Burns Ward of Dr. Ruth KM Pfau Karachi Civil Hospital after he was allegedly burned by her husband and parents-in-law at their home in Moosa Jokhio Goth on April 25.
Officials said a case was filed against in-laws about the complaint of the woman’s father Ghulam Rabbani, who said Humaira had married Wali Muhammad about three years ago, adding that his son-in-law poured gas on him and brought him fire.
Rabbani said his daughter’s mother-in-law was also involved in the incident, because he had ordered his son to burn Humaira in the kitchen, adding that they claimed that he burned while cooking. The police said they had arrested my mother-in-law but her husband was still free.
