Special children who are very close to my heart: Aleem| Instant News

LAHORE – Senior Punjab Minister Abdul Aleem Khan said that caring for children with birth defects is a shared responsibility of the government and society. He said that special children’s problems were very close to his heart; therefore, he has obtained special permission from Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar to bring improvements in this sector.

He expressed this view when chairing a special education department meeting here Thursday. Provincial Special Education Minister Chaudhry Muhammad Akhlaq and Special Education Secretary Syed Javed Iqbal gave briefings during the meeting.

Aleem said that a modern gym with special facilities for special children would be established in major cities of Punjab and in the first stage, a sophisticated gymnasium would be inaugurated in Lahore by the Chief Minister of Punjab soon. He said that awareness must be created about the education and training of children with disabilities in rural areas where people still consider them a burden and keep them locked in their homes.

Aleem expressed satisfaction with the fact that the best services are being provided for the education and care of special children by the Ministry of Special Education.

Aleem directs relevant officials that the department must hold a joint meeting with NGOs to form an advisory board, so that they can benefit from each other’s experiences.

He said that concrete and practical steps must be taken for the welfare of these children. He said that many steps needed to be taken to access children with disabilities. He said the building must be designed so that special children can access it and enter easily. He directed the Department of Special Education to ensure that students do not face difficulties and develop long-term plans that can ensure better care for these children throughout the province.
