Government, PDM fight only for power: Siraj | Instant News

KARACHI: Chairman of the Jamaat-e-Islami Senator Sirajul Haq on Thursday said the federal government and the Democratic Movement of Pakistan (PDM) were fighting primarily for the seat.

The PDM component parties, especially the Pakistan People’s Party and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, have supported Pakistan’s Tehreek-e-Insaf-led government at every opportunity, including selling out of Kashmir, destroying the economy, destroying education, accepting slavery. World Bank and IMF, and passed laws related to FATF, said Siraj, during a speech at an event organized by the Karachi Bar Association (KBA),

The JI chairman said the federal government and the PDM also agreed on setting up military courts and granting extensions to the military chief of staff.

Siraj said the federal government in 950 days had shown incompetence, dishonesty and bad governance. “The government has failed miserably to provide any assistance to the Pakistani people,” he said.

Criticizing the PPP for its poor governance in Sindh, Siraj said the PDM wanted to carry out a revolution but whether they would tell what revolution the Sindh government had brought in the province over the past 13 years. Residents of Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur and Larkana still drink mixed sewage water. The large city of Karachi has been devastated where people lack proper public transportation, water and electricity facilities.

He said the ruling parties in Sindh and the Center were fooling Karachi residents. “Nobody knows of the existence of the Rs 1,100 billion package for Karachi,” he said.

Criticizing the federal government for approving the “controversial 2017 census” in Karachi, the head of JI said the metropolis’ original population was three crore but half of the population had been demoted in fraudulent ways.

The head of JI also said that brave lawyers have always fought for the rule of law and justice and the restoration of democracy in Pakistan. “The fraternity of law, especially the KBA, opposes the doctrine of necessity and never compromises on principle.”

He said that JI’s politics and legal principles do not contradict, therefore, the party invites lawyers to join hands and fight to uphold justice, firm and impartial accountability and the rule of law and the constitution.

KBA President Naeem Qureshi and Secretary General Amir Nawaz Warraich also spoke at the event, while Islamic Lawyers Movement leaders Syed Shahid Ali, Abdul Samad Khattak, Syed Shujaul Nabi, Iqbal Aqeel and others were also present.
