PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – April 6, 2020): A Provincial Task Force Meeting on Corona was held here on Monday to review the latest Corona situation with Chief Minister, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan in the chair.

The meeting reviewed in detail the situation prevailing in connection with the corona pandemic, the status of implementation governmentInstructions are taken to distance the social, progress about providing assistance to provincial vulnerable populations through the Ehsas Program and many other related matters.

Provincial Health Minister Taimur Saleem Jhagra, CM Advisor for Information, Ajmal Khan Wazir, Corps Commander Peshawar Lieutenant General Nauman Mahmood, Principal Secretary KP Kazim Niaz, IGP Sanaullah Abassi, Additional Principal Secretary Shakeel Qadir and the Administration Secretary from the relevant departments attended the meeting.

The meeting was updated that the total number of suspected corona cases in all provinces was 1211, the number of confirmed cases was 340 and the total number of deaths was 15. It was further informed that overall 215 quarantine centers, 554 High Dependency Units and isolation units with a capacity of 2400 beds has been established in all provinces.

High-ranking officials from the Ministry of Health explained the meeting that there was a substantial increase in the provision of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for health workers fighting the front-line corona pandemic, and so far 25 thousand N-95 masks have been provided for various districts, and added that number of Rs 175 millions already released to all District Health Officers to buy PPE.

Regarding the distribution of aid packages announced by the province government to be disbursed through the Ehsaas Program, the meeting was informed that according to the updated figures 2.2 million Proper families from the provinces will be given Rs 6000 each, and the process of identifying viable families has been completed while the distribution mechanism is being given the finishing touches.

This forum expressed its satisfaction with the whole process of identifying suitable families for the package and directed the residence concerned to make effective strategies for crowd management at distribution points.

The meeting discussed various options to enable development industry to operate subject to certain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The meeting stressed the need to implement governmentInstructions for social distance are more effective.

When greeting the meeting participants, para Chief Minister lauded the role of the civil administration and security services in effectively fighting the corona pandemic and hopes that with public cooperation and good coordinated efforts from all stakeholders, para government will soon be able to overcome the crisis.

He directed health department officials to increase the supply of PPE to frontline health workers and increase testing capacity for corona patients without reducing the quality of testing.
