A new crackdown by the Karachi government has been launched against the begging mafia, in a bid to engage the three main Karachi departments to be resolved gradually to prevent ‘professional beggars’.

The crackdown on professional beggars including children and transgender people was carried out by the Special Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) Unit of the Police starting Tuesday which was also assisted by the Sindh Child Protection Authority, according to the report. report.

According to Karachi police, the child beggars will be handed over to the Sindh Child Protection Authority, and the operation will be extended to all areas of the Karachi metropolis. In detail, the legal case for article 9/10 will be registered against professional beggars.

During the first phase of the persecution, 21 beggars were arrested in the Karachi South Zone in addition to registering 10 new cases against them.

Sources said that 2 beggars had been arrested from the Clifton area, one from Gizri, two from Darakhshan, one from Saddar, one from Defense and one by police women. Two more beggars were arrested by officers of the AVCC special unit in Karachi. The arrested beggar is now on trial under article 9/10.
