LAHORE: Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar chaired a meeting in his office here on Friday to review the new cleaning system of the Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC).
It has been proposed in the new system that Lahore should be divided into six zones. Urban areas will be divided into four zones, while rural areas will be divided into two zones and rubbish will be collected from homes via vehicles. Residents will submit their garbage to the vehicle. Container shortages will also be met and a tracking system will be installed in the garbage collection vehicle. The meeting was informed that the garbage will be handed over to five stations to be moved to the landfill site.
Also proposed at the meeting to develop a new landfill to dispose of waste properly. The CM ordered to further improve the cleaning system in the provincial metropolitan city, adding that the new model must be realized at the earliest.
Likewise, he ordered to improve the service delivery mechanism, because the entire city of Lahore would be included in the new system. There is also a need to start working on a waste-to-energy mechanism, he added. The CM was given a briefing by the Regional Government Secretary and Consultant Dr. Nasir Javed that around 6,000 tons of garbage are produced every day in Lahore and residents do not put their waste in containers.
It was stated that the option to establish a new landfill site was available on the other side of the Ravi River and Akhterabad. The meeting was told that a new contract would be given until September. CM appreciates the performance of local government secretaries, LWMC and consultants to design new cleanliness models.
notice: Usman Buzdar has noticed agitation by patients in the Expo Center field hospital and sought reports from relevant ministers and health secretaries. He ordered to arrange the best health care facilities for patients, adding that a balanced diet was given to them on time.
Likewise, other facilities must also be provided and action must be taken if negligence occurs. Taking care of patients properly is the responsibility of the relevant departments and no leeway will be tolerated in that, he warned.
Occupation: Usman Buzdar has fulfilled his promise to give a job to a special person, Bilal Ahmad, who has met him during a recent visit to Chishtian and asked for a job. According to the leaflet issued here Friday, the chief minister directed Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bahawalnagar to immediately arrange work for him.
Now, the man has been given a job at THQ Hospital, Chishtian and a work letter has also been submitted to him by DC. Bilal Ahmed thanked CM and said that Usman Buzdar was a true leader who fulfilled his promise.
