ISLAMABAD – Bench division from Islamabad

The High Court (IHC) has been ordered

Request by the Intra Court (ICA) for a one-seat ruling restoring the Rear Admiral

(Purn) Jamil Akhtar as Chairperson

Karachi Port Trust (KPT). The double bench consists of Judge Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb

and Judge Fayyaz Ahmed Jandran conducted hearings about the ICA being driven by office bearers

KPT trade unions against a single member court decision.

During the trial, applicant

adopted that the seat of a single member had given an assessment of the facts and prayed the court to declare the April 16 court decision null and void. He also prayed to the court to return the government orders

to remove Jameel Akhter from his position. After hearing, in his argument, the court backed up a decision about the continuity of the case. It was April 16 when IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah

threw out a petition against the removal of Akhtar after federal

the government expressed its willingness

to pull notifications

for the move. Former PML-N government

has appointed Jamil Akhtar as chair of the KPT on November 23, 2017 for a period of three years, but the government of PTI

on March 25 removed him from his position prematurely, for different reasons
