Two days after fierce gunfights along the Control Line left five Army personnel and as many as militants killed, Director General Jammu and Kashmir Police said Tuesday that cross-border infiltration efforts continued by Pakistan despite the situation posed by COVID-19 Outbreak forces.
However, he said all security agents, including the police, the army and the Central Armed Police Forces were maintaining a counter-insurgency and border network active and ready to cut Pakistan’s design.
“Cross-border infiltration efforts are being carried out continuously from Pakistan even during this pandemic and we must thwart all such efforts,” Dilbagh Singh said while chairing a high-level meeting of senior officers, zones, ranks and district officials in here.
The DGP said the role of the police and other security personnel in the counter-terrorism front was praiseworthy.
“In addition to dealing with the coronavirus crisis, our officers and police officers, the CAPF and our army keep the counter-insurgency network and border network active and ready,” he said.
Reviewing the readiness and steps in the field regarding COVID-19, the police chief impressed the officers to step up efforts to track down people who hid their travel history and contacts from positive cases.
The DGP commended the officers for their good work in handling the situation and emphasized that they remain strong and safe while carrying out their duties.
“COVID-19 is currently at a sensitive stage. We must be more careful and ready to deal with the developing situation,” Singh said, adding time was to motivate officials and champions on land to stop the spread of the virus.
Singh said the number of positive cases of COVID-19 increased day by day throughout the world and in union territory as well, and thus the involvement of police personnel in sensitive tasks also increased. “Many things have been done so far by personnel, but there is much more that must be done to stop the spread of this disease,” he said.
