22 policemen among those infected as Punjab witnesses recorded COVID-19 cases every day | Instant News


LAHORE: At least 22 security officials were infected with the corona virus when 683 new confirmed cases of this new disease appeared in Punjab on Sunday, bringing the provincial count to 7,494.

According to the Ministry of Health and Primary, six more people have died from the deadly virus during the past 24 hours, bringing the death rate to 121 while 2,591 have recovered so far, however, 22 patients are currently in critical condition.

It can be noted here that a total of 92,622 tests have been carried out in the province to date.

Of the infected police, seven of them belonged to Gujranwala and 15 in Daska. They were tested positively when the provincial authorities began COVID-19 tests on officials who carried out the task of enforcing locking measures.

“The Gujranwala police department conducts random tests on officials who carry out their work amid the corona virus lockdown. It turned out that 22 were infected with the corona virus while 109 were stated negative, “said a local police official (RPO).

“Infected police officers also include station office (SHO) officers,” said assistant commissioner (AC) Daska.

It is important to mention here that the province of Punjab has the highest number of COVID-19 infections in Pakistan.
